Here are some great ways to level up your ukulele skills:

Get Inspired: Sponsored Artists

One of the best ways to grow as a musician is to watch and learn from others. Many ukulele brands support talented sponsored artists who regularly share performances, tutorials, and tips. Follow a few players whose style you admire—whether it’s traditional Hawaiian, pop covers, or jazz-inspired arrangements. Watching how they approach the instrument can spark new ideas and motivate you to try something different in your own playing.

Play Together: Local Ukulele Groups

Learning on your own is great—but playing with others is where the magic really happens. Local ukulele groups offer a welcoming space to keep you practicing regularly, learning new songs and building confidence performing with others. If you’re in a group already, challenge yourself to attend consistently. If not, consider joining one nearby—there’s nothing like making music with a group to accelerate your progress.

In Northeast Ohio consider visiting the Rubber City Ukes, Northeast Ohio Ukulele Group, or the North Olmsted Ukulele Society. There are many more in NE Ohio so check out Kala Ukulele's listing of clubs around Ohio and the country.

Level Up: Workshops & Clinics

Workshops or Clinics or Festivals or Camps are a fantastic way to focus on specific skills in a short amount of time. Many are led by experienced players or visiting artists and cover a wide range of topics.

Even attending just one workshop can give you tools and insights that transform your playing. Check out the Midwest Ukulele and Harmonica Camp this July in Toledo! If you are willing to travel, there are many to pick from, just google ukulele workshop and see what's out there.
